Rachel Morrissey, Mezzo Soprano
Claire de lune- Faure
Spagnuolo l'amante- Donizetti
Voi che sapete- Mozart
My short-term vocal goals include achieving confidence throughout my range, maintaining resonance in all of my vocal registers. I would like to be comfortable enough on stage to act well and audition successfully. Finally, I would like to learn at least one full operatic role by the end of this year.
For my long-term goals, I want to be an excellent performer and provide the highest level of art to my audience. I want to give a performance with intellectual and artful skill to whomever is seeking a beautiful musical and emotional experience.
Rachel Morrissey began studying opera in December of 2013 with Lauren Sawyer. She has been a choral soloist and ensemble singer in the Seicento Baroque Ensemble since 2013. In high school, Rachel performed the role of Nancy in Oliver! In the spring of 2015, Rachel understudied the lead role in Handel’s Orlando with the Boulder Opera Company. Rachel also performed in the chorus of Bizet’s Carmen with the Boulder Symphony. This is her second year with the Boulder Music Institute. While opera is her main academic focus, she also studies German at the University of Colorado.
